I just came back after a couple months, the OP gave me a good laugh :P

Also, what do you think about the ending of DXHR? It seemed pretty rushed and generally not satisfying to me.
I didn't like any of the endings, and the entire game felt a bit dumbed down.

There were no ammo types, the levels were smaller than the original game, and there were no dobermans or greasels.

Especially the dobermans, they were so cool in the first game.

And don't get me started on the boss fights, I hate them.

Um, no ammo types? What do you mean? Each of the different weapons had it's own different ammo type (in fact, my major complaint with them was that the stacks were so tiny. Unless you make an effort to carry around several stacks of ammo, you're likely to run out of ammunition for your favourite gun rather quickly if you're opting for a "Rambo" playstyle. And don't even try to carry one of each type of weapon... You'll be lucky to be able to carry one short-range, one medium-range and one-long range weapon.)

I do miss the "monster" enemies though. I suppose between global warming, human augmentation and the creation of true AI, the devs didn't want to include another point of contention about genetic engineering in there.

As far as the boss fights go, I've only had one boss fight so far (I'm still in the middle of my first playthrough), but I rather enjoyed it. There were numerous ways to beat him, ranging from a straight-up gunfight to using a Stun Gun to shock him then pouring bullets into his head, to using Stealth and taking potshots at him from the corners with a sniper rifle, to simply throwing a stack of UR-DEDs in a corner and then luring him into them. It's even possible to kill him if you brought absolutely no lethal weapons at all, by throwing the explosive/toxic barrels at him.

I mean there is only one type of ammo for each weapon.

In the first game, you could use different ammo.

EG: The tranquiliser gun had "normal" darts, or tranq darts etc.

And the automatic rifle could fire "normal" rounds or rockets.

EDIT: My problem with the boss fights is not the difficulty, I've beaten them all on the hardest setting.

It's being forced to kill, as my first playthrough was a pacifist, where I didn't kill anyone or set off any alarms or enemies firing.

Being forced to fight and kill them didn't fit with being a pacifist.

The Boss fights were pretty..out of sync with the game. I played the hardest difficulty to and I one had to do was toss an EMP grenade or two and then just keep shooting them in the head when they are incapacitated.

**SPOILERS**
I Killed all three bosses the same way, with a battle rifle or the heavy rifle!. Kinda didn't even know that the first boss does a meele move like holding Adam and throwing him down, same with the second boss going invisible during the fight, third boss I can say he never shot at me with plasma weapon he held (LOL)..until I saw youtube videos of it.

Ahh, I see what you mean now by the ammo types. Yeah, that was a bit of a wasted opportunity, I guess. Still, there's enough diversity in the ways to take out enemies in DXHR that I didn't miss them all that much.

I also see what you mean regarding the discrepancy with a Pacifist playthrough and the boss fights. In my opinion though, it's being a total pacifist that feels odd. Here you have enemies who've brutally gunned down your friends, your colleagues and your girlfriend, and you're STILL going out of your way to not kill them? It just feels too unrealistic to me. (That won't stop me from trying for the Pacifist achievement, of course.) It's unlike the situation in DX1, where Paul Denton openly chides you for being bloodthirsty, and you're reminded several times by people that you're a cop, first and foremost.

I'm not saying that players who want to take a total Pacifist route are "silly", of course, but I'm just saying that it doesn't seem to stack up in a roleplaying sense considering Adam's motivations.

Zaxares: being a total pacifist that feels odd
As much as I love stealth games, I felt like a rat in a hole.

And to play it with no alarms or enemies going hostile took a LONG time and heaps of reloads.

Once I finished, I played a "normal" run and shot all the enemies, it was so much easier and quicker.

My next playthrough, when the Missing Link DLC is released, will be a psycho run, where I'll kill everyone.

I'm looking forward to that. :)
I played mine on a CRT monitor that had the RED channel cable broken. All I could see was shades of green. I still enjoyed it and loved it. Goes to proof: gameplay comes first.
Hmm after another replay, I have gotta say that I have to backtrack what I said about Deux Ex Human Revolution scoring..

I previously mentioned 6/10..but now I feel its 8/10 :)
(abiet with flaws)

And for those who are playing Deux EX - first game, I sincerely recommend to check the following additions with mods or new renderer

http://kentie.net/article/dxguide/index.htm
http://kentie.net/article/d3d10drv/index.htm

After installing New Vision texture modification, High Definition Pack, non-scalable GUI files, Shifter MOD and the new renderer (DX10 or latest Open GL or ENB series dx9)..the game really looks good..

Note: New Vision textures, High Defintion pack and Shifter mod requires some file editing to make them both work individually or in unison*.

I wouldn't go that far, it looks far better, but sadly this will always be an ugly game.

It would be awesome if they re-made the game with modern graphics and better voice acting.

BTW, New Vision includes Kentie's Direct3D 10 Render and Chis Dohnal's OpenGL renderer.
I spilled my drink!
I've now reached level 50 as Sam B, and killing zombies never gets old.

The Infected are really annoying, though, especially if they're in hordes or you're at a spawn point.
