MadalinStroe: I 100% agree with this. It's a mistake for GOG to try to compete with STEAM. They should do their own thing, like they did when they started GOG. They should offer complete/definitive versions of the games, DRM-Free. Games getting patched late, or missing features such as modding tools or daily runs, only draws bad publicity.

you cannot have both of best worlds, especially when you are running a business that needs to make profit.

I don't mind the new games, and I never said that GOG should have limited themselves to old games. In fact at this point, I think I have more recent games on GOG, than I have old classics. All I said was that they should insist on releasing complete games, once all the patches and DLC have been released, which is what they did when they started.

AFAIK, it's now that easy for developers to update the games here, so not only davelopers, but GOG is also responsible for the current updating system!

Please, support my wish for improving the process of providing updates in-time!

With Galaxy API the update progress is nearly as easy as it is with Steam. However devs are free to use the API and some don't even know about it. There'snot much GOG could do to speed this up.

that i dont disagree with though
.
its just that as of currently developers absolutely can afford to use gog as an afterthought. should gog step up over this? absolutely so. But its a double edged sword..

Right now GOG absolutely isnt in position as a platform to stand toe to toe with steam and developers can easily just not even bring their games to the platform altogether, which ends up being a lose on users side. Sure, some will rightfully say "nothing of value was lost if they dont plan to keep the drm free version on par with the steam one", but currently with many games it really comes down to the lesser evil, aka having a version of game with few patches of differences or starting to make it even more of a hassle to release their games on gog that they just say "fuck this, we will only use Steam".

Pick your poison.

Tauto: Can't really say anything nice about Steam. It's possibly the way they make you sign in or should I say verify account via email just about everytime you log in or the fact that they command my pc while playing one of their rented games.

Zetikla: okay, whatever you say, tinfoil man

Crosmando: Easy, when GOG is negotiating with devs GOG ppl should produce a legal contract that says "If you have a game on GOG, you need to provide the same patches as the Steam version has", if the developer says no then they don't get to release their game on GOG, full stop. Better a game not be on GOG at all than they release a gimped version of it, quality over quantity.

Zetikla: I suppose so, just make sure not to pull the rug under your legs completely, because GOG compared to Steam, whether people like to admit it or not, is not the marketplace they will prioritise

DoctorGOGgles: GOG also doesn't seem to have the customer base/market share/sway to get the Mac OS version Steam has...
...and the 40% discount on the base game which the game has on Steam right now.
The macOS version is broken anyway and has non-functional gamepad support, and they can't be bothered to fix it. Between not caring about GOG and not caring about the Mac version, probably best just to ignore these developers.
