^ Yes. Anything that you "lend" to a fellow human being is a gift. If you get it back it's a blessing.
< enjoying a lazy Sunday
v Do you have any special plans for the week to come?
^ Vacation has ended. I'll be spending this week adjusting to a mundane work routine. :(
< Ten days in the wild was fantastic! Only thing I really missed was a proper mobile/internet connection.
v Wish I lived in an isolated cottage by the seaside. Happy where you live or would you rather live elsewhere?
^ overall I am happy where I live.
< I love reading.
v Do you?
^ I do, but I got burnt out years back reading several large works of fiction back to back(crime thriller dramas, similar to tom clancy stuff) and haven't gone back yet.
< Maybe someday i'll go back...maybe.
v Of course that's easier said than done....so what is one thing you keep putting off but really want to eventually get to?
^ My mom hates Adam West's Batman show and I've been wanting for ages to show her the Chris Nolan trilogy; it's only now that she's recovering from a skull vs. pavement incident that we have time for long movies.
< We watched Shin Godzilla the day before and she correctly guessed "he just wants to eat" and that the American bombers only made him mad.
v If a kaiju were stomping around your home, what kind of natural weapons would you rather it have: acid-pimples, laser-breath, realistic x-ray vision, hammer-tail, teeth made from the Madagasgar Stone Forest, razor-claws, or mirror armor (on a sunny day)?

^ All of the above! Except for the acid-pimples. I don't want Kaiju looking like me at puberty.
< Hope I live long enough to own a dream-recording device. :)
v Is there a future invention you hope to witness during your lifetime?
^ Yes, but the ones that I would not like to see are fearsome and are more plausible that the one(s) that I would like to see.
< The prospect of rogue AI is disconcerting.
v What do you worry most about, if anything?

^ The vanishing of the middle class (companies and people) could lead to a new time of feudalism. I lack the vocabulary to describe how bad the outcome could be.
< I don't fear AIs. I fear the people that tell the AI what they want it to do. See my answer above.
v Where is your red line when it comes to home automization?
^ Any connection to outside the property, even fuel is sub-optimal; a purely in-house system means every flaw is your own and nothing (short of rebellious A.I.) will betray or fail you in a way that can't be reversed.
< In the part of Batman Begins where Scarecrow corners Rachael and she zaps him with a taser, my mom asked if she chopped off his head because he was leaning backward on the horse.
v How about Shin Godzilla's tail-skeletons, what do you think those were about?
^ Humanoid baby Godzillas?
< What a lazy Sunday! Awake for one hour, napped for two, then repeated the cycle.
v Strange. Ever been gripped by fatigue? Seemingly tired for no reason at all?
^ Yes, but fatigued and drowsy are not the same thing.
< happy Monday
v Did anything worthy of mention happen in your life over the weekend?
^ Joined a friend for my first eggs benedict brunch of 2020 at a table shielded by plexiglass "walls".
< Electric shaver died on me mid-shave. Hid my botched face behind a mask while shopping for disposable blades.
v Name an item that has recently broken on you and caused some slight or grave inconvenience?
^ I was sitting in my office in the basement one night and the sound of rain was really loud. I came out to see why and found that it was raining inside the basement. The waterline to the toilet in the guest bathroom upstairs had broke.
< I may actually get to finally go back to work in a month. Been on furlough.
v One of my favorite tech luxuries is smart lighting (especially colored). Do you use smart lights?
^ Careful, let them get too smart, and they'll decide when to work.
< Robots should stay bare-programmed and battery-operated in whatever room they're designed for.
v And don't let any camera access the Internet unless you're actively using it for a live broadcast; tape over the lens is your friend no matter what the sickos at Apple say.
^ Agreed! I don't want my "smart tv" watching me while I'm watching it. I'll leave it at that. :P
< Laughing at your comment about smart lightbulbs rebelling. I picture them blinking relentlessly!
v Describe a funny scenario of a "smart" device rebelling against us hoomans just to annoy us. :)
