The Mayans calculated when the current age would end, but nothing in their writings indicates they thought that their world would actually pass away on that date; if anything, they probably saw it as a time of great celebration while looking forward to future prosperity and power and so forth in the new age, sort of like a modern-day New Years' celebration times a thousand. If the Mayans themselves didn't think the world would end on that day, why should anyone else?
And don't even get me started on that New Age malarkey about the crystal skulls...

deejrandom: We won't really know until it all ends, now will we? :P

Weclock: What I was saying, was, that at what point does one stop living and start dying? are we all living in a perpetual decay? slowly reverting to nothing?
I'm just trying to get people to explore these thoughts within themselves... not that they probably haven't already, just that it's nice to write on the topic sometimes, and this seemed like an appropriate thread..

I've already explored the "we are merely the atoms or molecules of something far larger than ourselves....so large that we think it is infinite and eternal" school of thought.
Ever have fever and feel your mind split into 3 and you are watching/affecting three different and disconnected places? Yeah it was a fever dream but still it *may* be possible....
I have explored a variety of thoughts related to your query, Weclock, but all of them come up with the same answer: "Inconclusive, maybe, maybe not...""
To quote Iron Maiden here: "Soon as you're born, you're dying..."

This fever, was it related in any way to hallucinogenic mushrooms?

Nope just having my brain fried and a bottle of Nyquil to kill off whatever was killing me....Never did hallucinogens...
Nyquil is probably worse

Heads up people! The truth is...
the world is a myth. It's all in your heads, like gnomes, fairies and people who can't pee properly into urinals

People who can't pee into urinals do exist.
But I guess not in "perfect" Singapore...

Of course they do. And what gave you the silly notion that Singapore's perfect?

No wait... I forgot that you're not allowed to chew gum.
The battle for the best Asian city rages on...

Why not? I'm chewing it right now. Bringing it into Singapore, however, is something else entirely
I don't believe it will happen, I mean it seems that every few years there's always "The apocalypse" coming soon or the end of the world, and those years pass by and nothing ever happens.
It's funny you see these people who are so die hard believing that they are right, I wish I could see their faces when the day it's supposed to happen comes around and.....nothing happens.
Nevertheless, I have always thought having a bunker would be smart, even if you never used it. Mainly for other events though, like Tornado's and other disasters.
well I'm hoping to make am underground bunker in my back yard but mostly so I can use it as a kick arse home theatre.
I'm thinking that if I'm ever rich enough to do it, I'll give it a fallout vault style look complete with huge door (though much lighter, has to be practical as well as awesome)
