It doesn't say whether or not the children were killed, but he managed to stab 22 kids at a school. 26 students were shot in Connecticut. So that man in China managed to stab nearly as many children as the kid in Conn. managed to shoot with a gun. This isn't the first time that sort of thing has happened in China, either.
The point is, where there is a will, there is a way. The deadliest mass murders in recent history involved explosives and not firearms. Timothy McVeighs stint in Oklahoma makes the Columbine and Connecticut shootings look like amateur hours, as sad as that sounds. He killed something like 168 people, including children, and wounded some 600 more, all without firing a single shot.
I'm not saying that guns aren't a dangerous weapon in the hands of a madman. I think on that everyone can agree. What I am saying is that some people seem to be ignoring the actual facts about mass murders. Even the COMPLETE elimination of guns (which won't happen - most people are just arguing for stricter control laws, not elimination) would not stop mentally unstable people from occasionally flying off the deep end and killing a bunch of people through other means. As some people in this thread have mentioned, the underlying problem is not the weapon used, but rather the mental health of the person wielding the weapon.
