Sid_Vicious: For me it sounds like buls*it.
He noticed on GOG today (game was here for a long time) and didn't check other places in the internets?
Rly?

Especially that the case should be between him and Nordic games.
I think this, too, but there's not really much one can say without seeing the actual paperwork and such, which we never will, understandably.
I think I purchased a physical copy of his games from Iceberg last year, so it seems odd that this is just coming up now.

If Boakes is getting ripped off then I seriously hope he can fix it, as I'm a big fan of his games and want to see him being rewarded for them. But with respect, all we've seen is his characterizaiton of the dispute - just because some corporate bandits robbed him blind doesn't mean they didn't do it under colour of law, so without knowing more it's at least possible that they do own the distribution rights. I hope that's not the case, though.
:-(
But if it's a single person - I bet those game will back soon

TheEnigmaticT: We have removed the games from sale as an act of good faith despite the fact that we have not been sent any paperwork from the devs that prove that they have the rights to the games in question. We have been speaking with the dev and with Nordic; for obvious reasons, GOG.com cannot comment on an ongoing rights issue, but we hope that this is resolved soon to all parties' content.
This is very classy of you. It just proves that he people frequenting this forum and game site is no fluke it follows the lines created by you guys. Thumbs up
If i remember correctly Nordic games acquired Dark Fall and Light Out when they became the publishes for The Adventure Company's games.

I agree with SirEyeball. I hope everything gets squared away.
Based on some comment from his facebook page, i doubt half of them ever heard of GOG before. They make it sounds like GOG.com is some sort of scams site.

Too angry to say anything. They should know GOG is the best!
I hope you guys get this resolved as well, I hate seeing games getting removed from the catalog :/
Oh. Look. A rights issue. And a confused rights owner. Probable rights owner, that is. How could this have of happened. And on GOG, of all places. <heavy sarcasm off>
Kudos to GOG for the way they're handling this issue. Like everyone else, I'm hoping for a swift resolution.

I am sorry, but this guy must be living in a "fantasy world", and his facebook friends as well. He may make some good games but I wonder about his thought process.

First, he wakes up and realizes his games have been being sold for god knows how long on a legitimate site who his friends think are in the wrong=) How does one realize his games are not being sold digitally through multiple sites? I mean...makes me wonder if he did not run out of money...and was like..."hmm..what crock of shit can i bake up to get me some moneys..."

Secondly, he claims to be the copyright holder...but that does not mean he did not sign over distrubition rights to another company who then gave those rights to multiple other companies....and who knows what he signed in the past....sure he could be the copyright owner and no one can make a Dark Fall game but if he gave the distribution rights away...then he is shit out of luck...also look at all his games and the publishers...you got things from Nordic, The Adventure Copy, Iceberg, Dreamcatcher...the list goes on and on in relation of the Dark Fall series...I doubt all that "happened" by accident. Not when multiple companies are listed depending on where you look. I guess everyone is out to get Mr. Boakes....yeah.

How many other game developers have made the games and then lose the rights to them because they signed some stupid paper without reading it. Happens all the time...but to come out and criticize GOG is just retarded on his part. He should be figuring out what the heck he did that now has so many damn companies selling his games if he truly still has rights to them...

I love the responses on facebook, I love fanboys and there blind devotion to one person. OMG...he could not have possibly done anything wrong and all the evil corporations are out to get him and takes his monies...yes...bs...I am sure this story will have some stupid twist at some point. Wait till Nordic digs out some 5 year old document with his signature on it...

Although...I hope the situation is resolved so GOG can continue to sell an excellent series.

Here are my thoughts:

- It's a little odd that he hasn't sent any paperwork over while still claiming that GOG "refuse to recognize him as the copyright holder."

- Dreamcatcher Interactive is a part of Nordic Games now and the Wiki page for games developed and/or published does not include Dark Fall. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DreamCatcher_Interactive

- Desura, Steam and Gamersgate recognize Iceberg Interactive as the publisher while DotEmu and GOG recognize Nordic Games. This strikes me as odd because Nordic claim to have gotten the rights from Dreamcatcher.

adambiser: [...]Though he may be in the right, he sure is going about things in the most whining manner possible.[...]
That exactly... regardless of the factual aspect of the dispute, the manner in which he does address this puts me off right away and it seems GOG has reacted in an more than compliant manner.

Wiki: The Adventure Company is a publishing label of Nordic Games. It is formally a division of DreamCatcher Interactive but was sold to Nordic Games in 2011 following DreamCatcher's parent JoWooD Entertainment being sold after entering administration.
