Perhaps the highly anticipated Battle Raper 2?

;D
Fingers crossed for the free game being a new release, preferrably a classic game.

coldalarm: I don't think it would be The Witcher. Nor would it be TW2 (which just had a weekend deal on Steam, ergo giving it away free would be a *major* dick move). The Witcher as a game has basically no value now, with its small price (it's about £7 now, no?) and frequent sales where it drops to under £2. So if they gave it away, it wouldn't really mean anything. Yeah, it might be a case of 20% of GOG users own it (to use the Fallout figure), but factor in the retail copies, the Steam, GamersGate, etc. copies. It's a game that has sold millions of copies.

So even though CDProjekt (RED and otherwise) are ramping up the marketing for The Witcher 3, I cannot believe they would give either Witcher game away at this point.
I don't agree here.

First, Any game would be fine. I can't comprehend how any selection would be a bad move. They have no obligation to provide any game for free. Even the already free games... they still provide a safe, known place to download and backup from.

As for who owns it? Glancing over the top 30 all time games on GOG, I don't own over one third of them (and I've bought a lot of games from GOG and other sources).

You might be right that they won't give away the witcher... but I think it would be pretty sweet if they did. I know a few people just in my small circle that don't own it and would likely never buy it, but would try it if they were given it for free. That is what you can safely call potential customers ;)

I think folks are being too liberal with the guessing game. Assuming 80% don't own a game on GOG... we have no data to conclude that they all must own the game from somewhere else. (not to mention that new gamers are introduced to the population and to good old games every day, along with new genres they have never tried, new platforms, etc. ) Even with Fallout... a game literally given away for free after being on the market for YEARS before the Witcher... we still have people that missed that one day giveaway and still don't have the game.
Any game would be fine, certainly. But giving away The Witcher would be a bad move because it will cause a bit of an outrage on the forum. I think this happened in the past with the Fallout giveaway.
I'll take anything. I just want the damn waiting to be over with.

(The murmuring about The Witcher would suit me just fine--I don't own it yet. Would eventually like a PC to be able to play it, but in the meantime I'll take it sitting on the shelf to tide me over.)

Pretty sure outrage will happen regardless. Can't make everyone happy. :)

Of course. But either of The Witcher games would lead to more outrage than any other game I can think of.

I would think that it would be a new title they're giving away (i.e. new to GOG, not necessarily newly released) rather than a limited-time giveaway of something already on the catalogue, though. Unless we have evidence to the contrary, of course.
Still nothing. The main page s still the same. Better not hype myself
This random twitterer claims it is going to be Torchlight https://twitter.com/SpeedBrkr/status/346913321758359553

I have no reason to believe them. On the other hand, no real reason for them to lie.
I don't think an outrage on the forum mean anything. It's all about expectation, some people might expect something special but they have to be realistic. Personally i'm fine with anything because it's not all about myself.

This long silence already generate plenty of hype (and hope). It could end up as a disappointment to some people.

yawn. is there anybody on this planet that doesn't already own at least one copy of Torchlight? the game's been dirt cheap for ages now.

hopefully, a free game means the summer sale is about to start.

Yes. Patch for mod supports was added a week or two after release.
