I admit to not liking Steam, but I also try to be fair (see the my earlier posts in this very thread. In this instance, STEAM IS WRONG. And I should get a refund. Because it does NOT list this as a reqirement, and it should. Unless of course, Ubisoft games requiring an Ubisoft account is so widely known that no living human being should not realize that. I dunno, but I've got a feeling I'm not the only living human being that didn't realize that before tonight.
I just went to the store page and can confirm just below the metascore on the right hand side it says "3rd-party DRM: Solidshield Tages SAS 3 machine activation limit".

Thank you.

Now could you please explain to me how "3rd-party DRM: Solidshield Tages SAS 3 machine activation limit" equals I have to register and join at another website rather than simply having to input a code at another website??? Because maybe I missed something somewhere. I thoght that meant I might have to input a code.

And I just now clicked on the Assassin's Creed 3 link, and YES, there it is, a UBI PLAY ACCOUNT IS REQUIRED.

That's ALL they needed to put on the Anno 2070 page. And none of this would've happened.

But they didn't.

And that's on STEAM.

Boy, you fanboys just can't take it when they really fuck up can you??? LOL

Neobr10: Why don't you blame Ubisoft instead? It's well known that Ubi's games use Uplay most of the time, which does require an Uplay account. And even then, the game page clearly states that the games does have third-party DRM. Also, Steam never promised to sell DRM-free games. If you didn't know already, Steam is not GOG.

Even if you buy the game from another sotre, it will still have the Uplay requirement.

"Title: Anno 2070™
Genre: Strategy
Developer: BlueByte , Related Designs
Publisher: Ubisoft
Release Date: 17 Nov 2011
Languages: English, French, German, Italian, Polish, Spanish, Czech, Russian
3rd-party DRM: Solidshield Tages SAS
3 machine activation limit"

You know, i do understand some of the complaints against Steam. But this is just nonsense, you're blaming Steam for no fucking reason.

Anyway, i don't even know why i'm wasting my time bringing common sense into this irrational discussion.

OldFatGuy: Whoa, wait a goddam minute. It's "well known" that Ubi games use Ubi play most of the time which does require a Uplay account???

Really???

Well known by whom???
Well known by everybody

Everybody???

Wow you Steam fanboys really can't stand when they fuck up can you. EVERYBODY IN THIS WORLD knows that when they buy a Ubisoft game from Steam that in addition to being a member of Steam it is a requirement that they also be a member of Ubisoft and have a Ubi play account???

I would spring for the cost of a poll, but if anyone actually wonders if that's necessary than the results of the poll aren't going to persuade them anyway.

I'll say again, you Steam fanboys just HATE when they FUCK UP dontcha!! LOL

I was actually kidding.
I just found it amusing that the comment would make you fly off the handle again.
Seriously settle down.

Oh, OK, my bad. Sorry. That one's on me.
This thread is amazing. Oh yeah, so everyone who has a bit of common sense is a Steam fanboy now. Oh, this is pure GOLD.

Anyway, keep up with your useless rant if you want.

What do you think DRM is? Of course you have to register. If you didn't register, how would they know that code belonged to your account? That's like buying a game from GOG without registering.

I agree it could be a bit more visible. Hell, any 3rd party DRM should have a big flashing sign. But it's not like it isn't there.

I don't even think there was a manual for Crusader Kings 2. And frankly, it doesn't matter - because every patch and every new DLC adds shitload of content that simply isn't present in manual.

Manuals for Paradox titles get outdated pretty fast.

BUT, the game has a very good Hint system during play. I learned how to play entire game through those hints. It works kinda like a digital interactive manual, not a tutorial.

I could say more, but I'm heading off to my salting sidewalks "job" :P

I'm not a huge fan of Steam, but you shouldn't get mad at them for things they aren't guilty of. They do have the manual for Crusader Kings II on the store page for that game.

There's a manual for Crusader Kings II right on the Steam store page. Look for "View the manual". That's one of the things I like about Steam, that you can download the manual even if you haven't bought the game.

For Fun:

Try doing the HOI 3 tutorial now. ;-)

Paradox games are best learned while playing or by reading an AAR on the forums.
