HijacK: Well, they should change it to kunoichi, because kunoichis are sexier.
I do not want to be sexy, I want to be a badass ninja. I shall demand a full refund if I must degrade to kunoichi.
The least I shall accept is pirate.

HijacK: Is he the guy that used to make the "This week on gog.com" videos?
True, I should have begun there :)
Am I going to have to replay all my old GOGs to get the achievements now?

Kunoichis are sexy bad ass ninjas. Shame on you for disrespecting them. You should be allowed no gender outside of hermaphrodite! :C

I know him. Yes, he had an amazing voice presenting those videos. What happened to him?

I DEMAND we have a hat collection section in the galaxy client to remember TeT :\

If they are sexier than a regular ninja, they are more likely to be noticed, thus being a worse ninja.

Opponents are distracted by sexy, unless they are other kunoichis. If opponents are distracted, that makes them amazing ninjas. You're just jealous! Off with you, shooo , shooo!
I just hope *fingers crossed* that I can

1. download .exe files and any extras that I want through the client to the folder I choose.
2. that once I have downloaded those files, the client will automatically download the updated versions and delete the old ones. (Deleting old versions should be an optional setting, of course.)
3. that it will NOT automatically download files I don't want. (I know the extras are popular, but I never bother with artwork and comics and all those stuff. I usually only get manuals and maps. Therefore, one should be able to choose which specific files in a game one wants to download and update.)
4. Play games through the client so I no longer have to clutter up my desktop with game icons.

I've already downloaded and backed up all my games on an external hard drive, but it would be awesome if I no longer have to manually download any updates after spending more time than what should be necessary trying to figure out exactly what it is in a flagged game that has been updated. If the client can just do all that stuff for me, I will love it forever.

EDIT:

Oh, and some kind of cloud saving feature would be great, too.

Wishbone: 2. So the Galaxy client will connect gamers on different platforms for multiplayer. How? That's what I'd like to know. If the Steam version of a game uses Steamworks for multiplayer, how will Galaxy connect non-Steamworks versions of the game?
Where did they mention this? The Galaxy video doesn't mention anything about connecting gamers for multiplayer as far as I can tell. It seemed mostly about connecting gamers socially and achievements.

PS: I only watched the GOG Galaxy video

PPS: Saw the main vid now. quoting myself below because this thread is more focused :)

I'm currently completely confused on how multiplayer matchmaking is supposed to work with this GOG Galaxy Client.

The moment it seemed they were going to explain it, instead we got a video of their new card game. Sure, that works with Galaxy. Sure, that'll be both GOG and Steam. It doesn't however explain anything. No doubt that game's matchmaking will work for both, it's designed for it after all. However,

Does that mean if a game is going to have Galaxy matchmaking its multiplayer matchmaking has to have been designed for Galaxy?

I assume the innovation of the idea there is that multiplayer matchmaking for the games not sold on GOG, do not require the Galaxy client to play online (but perhaps do for achievements?)

As long as I can completely ignore it and still have my Gog.com account page and download my games, patches and extras like i can now i dont care.

However i will say this is pretty cool for the people that want a social client for GoG.

Well, that's what they mean by "cross-play". They say it here in the video, but they're very vague about it (and it's very badly phrased), but they made a big deal out of it in the conference.

notpayingforgame: How will this work with non-bought GoG content? I buy GoG games, but I also give Mac versions of the setup programs to my dad so he can play too, and I've pirated a few GoG games that I wasn't sure of the purchase on. But, will people that pirate a game be able to play it online through Galaxy without issue, or will that be locked off? If you try and play a game that you don't own online through Galaxy, will it lock the game down?

Potzato: Pirating gog games is like .... shitting where you (edit : we) eat you know ? I commend you for being honest about that, but just don't ever pirate a gog version of a game please. I seriously don't care much if you pirate games .... just not a gog version.

edit : sorry for bad language, swiss pirates can facehook me in reparation.
Their username seems to be consistent with their view. ;-)

I don't see how this would be a problem, you're constantly logged in anyway. ;-P

Very very badly phrased. If it wasn't for the conference (instead of the Galaxy video) I wouldn't even be sure multiplayer matchmaking was even part of their announcement.

As it is though, i'm still not sure what it entails. So their new card game will do it. But that's their game, it's made for it no doubt. Does that mean games need to be designed for Galaxy matchmaking to work with it? What about games that use other matchmaking for multiplayer? What about games that aren't sold on GOG but are made for Galaxy matchmaking? Will Galaxy client or account be needed in any way?
