Zurin Arctus: Oblivion's art design was bland. What they did to Dark Elves will never be forgotten.

Fenixp: Personally, I think Skyrim's design is bland. Everything is ... samey, mainly it's the color scheme - it does the whole "grim" thing that's modern nowadays. I actually liked that Oblivion was colorful, and for the centre of the Imperium, it's art style fits perfectly.

Also, when we're talkign about graphical design, Oblivion's cities genuinly looked like cities, they were big, had a plenty of civilian buildings (and don't even pull Imperial City at me, just show me a TES city with higher population since they dumped procedural generation). What Skyrim's got is a joke. And exploration? There are a few locations worth finding, and you can be sure you won't find anything interesting in them since loot is almost entirely leveled.

And Dark Elves? They looked ugly. Just as all other NPCs in Oblivion. It's still better than Morrowind thanks to reasonable animations.
Oblivion was colorful, but whether you prefer colorful or "grim" as you describe it is a matter of taste. I liked both equally. My issue was the NPCs.

All NPCs looked horrendous. In Skyrim they did an excellent job on all races.

Morrowind was much better. For the time when Morrowind came out the faces looked great when they were unique, unlike Oblivion, where everyone looked similar with one NPC being more terrible than the other.
The character creation aspect, cosmetically, was terrible in Oblivion. The way every single NPC was created was plain terrible. Skyrim fixed all of that.
The animations in Oblivion were god awful. By the time Oblivion came out they could have done so much better. Morrowind was justified because it's old.

Gazoinks: though I find Skyrim's world as a whole more fun to explore

Fenixp: c) there's no useless shit (this might seem like a weird complaint, but it added to beleivability and fun in Morrowind. Stuff like boots of blinding speed I mean)
Hey man, the Boots of Blinding Speed are awesome. You only need a relatively small amount of magic resistance (10-20%) to still be able to see, and they make traveling the countryside a lot easier without having to resort to alchemy shenanigans. I agree with your point, but the only really useless things are spoiled potions, light armors that aren't chitin or glass, and 50lb dwemer cogs. Oh, and that Bipolar Blade from the romance quest. The actual world of Morrowind definitely seems a lot more organic and believable than any of the other games except maybe Daggerfall.
Bethesda's Fallout games are really the kings of completely useless items, anyway. Tremble at my collection of burned books!

Well that is why I said that I like it, not that it is better. As for NPCs ... TES games are mainly about exploration and story, for me, personally. I don't quite give a flying shit about how NPCs look like, I'm ugly as fuck myself so I can relate.

BiPolar blade was brilliant! It made NPCs just sort of ... Twitch in place, not knowing whether they should attack you or be friendly. It was like paralysis!

wodmarach: Daggerfall looked better than Oblivion ;)

Fenixp: What else will Oblivion's ... err, hate-base come up with? I for one do genuinly think Oblivion was better than Skyrim
Did I say anything about how good or bad Oblivion was? I think not! All I did was say the graphics are ugly and come on you have to admit the character models haven't aged aswell as they have in older TES games.

Yes you did! You also said my mother was a hamster and my father smells of elderberries!

Not sure why you would assume that. Even if they release it ASAP it would be the Thursday following 30 days to fit PSN's release day, which would be next week. That's no promise either though, for marketing or testing reasons.

I'm sure we'll know soon enough.
Morrowind was great, Oblivion was dull as hell and Skyrim was alright, Honestly, skyrim isn't all brown and grey - There is a fair bit of green as well. Its mainly the icy areas of the map that are dull (And yes, they do need to be more lit up. At first I was impressed by the snow when I walked up the first mountain they make you walk up, but it quickly wore off.)

This here (attached) is more pleasing to the eye than most of Skyrim ever was, and it's mostly grey wasteland! I have no clue how did they manage to do that in Skyrim, really.

I completely agree with you in that regard and the reason Skyrim probably failed in that regard was because of the fact that everything was so predictable and set, Dungeons held nothing worth scavenging for, NPCS gave you millions of fetch quests and were fairly bland. Although, to me, it was a major step up from oblivion.

They've now announced that it's not announced for PC...
