Could be. Could not be. We don't know the whole story, and our only detail is that "Seller wants this price, buyer wants this price. Hagglers will be tased and dragged to the lion pit."

Consumer goods become cheaper and less durable in time. From many years people are taught that it’s not worth to buy second-hand items (or repair broken ones) – that what they should do – is just buy new item. That’s why value of second-hand items devaluates.

Another thing is that maybe they are so cheap nowadays because they follow this ‘modern economy pattern’ – and buy sth they don’t really need/use?

Fair enough. I guess his listing just might not have been reaching a large enough audience, or it may not have been in the right place for those particular items. Whatever it is, the problem is not that all people are cheap. That doesn't really even make sense. One person can be cheap. If everybody is cheap, then cheap becomes normal, and therefore is no longer cheap.

Thank you for giving me an intelligent answer. Yes, because most things nowadays are made very cheaply, I can understand people not wanting to spend money on used items. What good is something that breaks, a week later, after all.

That is because you are a troll. It is too bad that this forum is infested with your kind.

PS

Seriously, WTF is wrong with GOG general discussion? I get low rated for telling a troll to go fuck himself after he says this "OP - it sounds like you need a crash course in economics and civility after reading your posts."?

That sentence right there is highly insulting. He is calling me, not only a moron but someone who is uncivilized. So I insult him back and get low rated? Is it because my insult includes the word "fuck" and not something more eloquent?

Someone is being greedy because he or she is not happy with almost giving something away for free?

Khadgar42: A pity I was enjoying this thread and sympathize with monkeydelarge. That's the reason I don't sell stuff, I keep it, wait until it breaks and throw it away.

But a thread poster, not wanting solutions but rather pity ought to use the quite popular "bitch about life in general" thread.
http://www.gog.com/forum/general/the_bitch_about_life_in_general_thread
I saw no solutions here. Just people bitching at me for bitching about them and a troll post, maybe two.

monkeydelarge: I've been trying to raise money by selling things lately.
Dang, and I was sure this was a complaint how people don't buy PC games for full price anymore, but pay only $1 or BTA for Humble Bundles, or wait for sales. I already had so many counter-arguments ready starting from the evils of DRM and how publishers get exactly what they ask for and deserve... but in vain. :(

I guess it is overall that when people are looking into buying second-hand items instead of new ones, they are trying to get it as cheap as possible. Otherwise they'd buy a brand-new one, with warranty and all.

Unless they are items that aren't available new anymore, like some ultrarare Japanese hentai version of Super Mario Bros on NES, or the first autograph by John Lennon.

I don't mind people not paying full price for PC games anymore but it does bother me that people pay $1 for bundles and only wait for 75% off sales. Yes, tburger revealed to me, one thing I failed to realize. People don't have much trust in used items due to the fact, they are used so people aren't being insanely cheap if they don't want to spend money on used items. They just don't want to buy something that will break on them soon.

QC's post managed to get through to me. I don't know the whole story, so I can not really say. The thing is, you wont tell us the whole story. If you did, you may not have gotten such a bad response.

I find it highly ironic and somewhat humorous that this was the same guy who went on a rant because Best Buy accidentally priced metro last night (I think that's the name of the game) at 1 cent and they wouldn't honor the sale to the boatloads of people who wanted to take advantage of it.

The behavior you describe of the people you are trying to sell whatever to is exactly the kind of behavior you were adamantly supporting in the Best Buy thread. Re-read your first few posts in this thread but consider it from Best Buys point of view. When the shoe is on the other foot, my my my, how we don't like it and rage. Funny how you raged on both sides of the argument when the discussion turned against you in both threads. The only difference is in this thread, you're playing the part of BB and you can't seem to understand why people want to take advantage and screw others as long as it favors them.

I don't feel like writing a post about every single item, I've sold and is currently up for sale. I also find it annoying that people won't take my word it. Why do I need to tell people the whole story? Do I have a reputation of being someone who is full of shit? I don't like being treated like a criminal.

I had a feeling someone like you would worm their way in here and give me shit about my Best Buy related posts. My Best Buy related posts were about honor. Something you don't understand so drop it. If you don't want to drop it, then hopefully you will realize, I was against Best Buy not keeping their word. Something much worse than someone being an insanely cheap bastard.

I have to admit that I made similar experiences on flea markets for children's toys and clothes. I buy stuff and I used to sell stuff also but I stopped doing that.
For about a year now the behaviour of the buyers slightly changed. People don't seem to be willing to pay a reasonable price, only want to pay about € 0,50 - € 1 per item and then want something free on top. Or they just ask for free stuff right away.
It's strange and I really wonder what has changed. I like flea markets and I love haggling and I know how things work there and I have been a happy customer and a successful vendor but the mood has changed and not in a good way. I can of course only speak for the flea markets I frequent, so I don't have a very big sample to go by but for these things really have gotten different.

You told one of the nicest people around here to "go fuck" himself, and you did so because he told you things as they are, for both the value of your goods and your attitude to the responders. You are abrasive and easily turn rude; he was being frank and straightforward. Now, instead of continuing to argue with people, go back and read over what they've told you again. Most of your answers are there.
I don't know if it was covered already, but it could also be that many potential buyers are actually looking into making money from the deal, ie. they want to get the items so cheap that reselling them (maybe after renewing and mending it a bit) brings them profit.

That just occurred me due to all those pawn shop, collector and garage sales kings TV series that seem to come from the TV all the time. There they constantly buy "junk" that they are not interested themselves, but are just looking into making money by reselling them.

Not sure if they are the same people, or did they say they really need the items you are selling?

Just because he is nice to you, doesn't mean he is a nice person. And just because someone is a nice person, doesn't mean he or she is not capable of not nice things. No, I'm not a moron and I'm not uncivilized so he did not tell me things as they are. If that is what you think, then go fuck yourself too. The fucker insulted me, I insulted him back. It's very simple. Of course, childish favoritism comes into play, so people side with him.

To be fair, that's why Khadgar42 said to post there if one is " not wanting solutions but rather pity". There are, exactly as you said, no solutions to be found there, just people bitching about their situations and the like. :)

Sorry I can't add anything more relevant to the conversation, but just thought I'd point out that you may have looked at the "Bitch About Life" thread for solutions when that is not the point of it. Good day, sir or madam!
