DaCostaBR: Did you know this movie is coming out right now? I was certain it was tomorrow. There's a 15:15 showing but I'd have to run to try and catch it. I'll go on the 19:15 instead and put this thing to bed. Brace yourselves for incoming spoilers.
Oh well, guess I'm out. I hope you enjoy it, even if it's not that great.

I really hate this. Discussing a movie is half the fun for me, and with the release being a week late I'm sort of fucked on that front, the discussion will have ran it's course long before I'm back from the cinema after seeing the movie.
When are you people going to stop watching this garbage? If we stop feeding this monster with cash, then it might turn around and challenge itself creatively in order to satiate our interests once again. Until we do... never ending piles of crap.

Good question.

This is a BIG pet peeve of me for any format.
I just watched it and it isn't good. They tried cramming too many characters into a single movie and ultimately I felt none of them got the oppurtnity to shine. Wonder Woman was a bad casting choice and like others mentioned before Batman kills in this movie especially in some places where it isn't really necessary to do so which might irritate few people. So if you didn't like man of steel no point in going to this one, even if you did like it you should probably reconsider. I've been wrong about movies before so don't just take my word for it.

Justice League is the only movie that matter sadly. At this point why are we giving 2 fucks about BvS? Iron Man 2 sucked before we got Avengers.

This is the Superhero movie genre today.

We need to connect everything. Its gonna be like the comic books where even each Superheroes solo stories they have to shoehorn in extra canon references that this is a bigger universe.

But this is batman vs superman, 2 biggest chars in DCU whereas in Iron Man 2 all they had was Iron Man to work with. I see a lot of wasted potential story wise.

But again who cares, Justice League movie is all that matters.

And then we will get that regular slew of DC movies that better set up future movies. Considering Wonder Woman's attempt.

No. The most recent comic book movie I saw was Dark Knight Rises... or Batman rises again... whichever one had Bane. I have no motivation to see the new this super hero vs that super hero movie. I had enough of that with Freddy vs Jason and Godzilla vs Mothra.

Hollywood is a business. It sees profit as the measuring stick for quality. So long as people pay money to see garbage, there is absolutely ZERO incentive for the studios to make better films. Just watch the sliding scale of quality. It's not going to get better. You don't make bad movies go away by throwing money at the people who made them.

No, but I did some screen writing for a while. Talked to some writers who had worked in Hollywood. Not a pretty picture. The ART aspect of film making is about .5% of the process. The reasons why movies suck now is rudimentary. Nepotism, laziness, and risk aversion. That's why we see bad movies, reality tv, type cast actors, and low brow humor. Poor quality has become the standard.

Money is the bottom line. Period. You buy a movie ticket, you just told the studios that you approve of their methods. Once you've seen their piece of shit movie and get on the internet to rant about it, they could give a wet slippery shit if you didn't like it.

I admit I felt this way too, especially regarding the modern Marvel movies.

Movies like Guardians of the Galaxy and Avengers Age of Ultron feel so....safe, so appealing to the lowest common denominator even Deadpool felt safe and samey despite the whole R rating its was still an Origin story and he still had a climactic final battle.

Is this why TV shows are more popular right now? Like Game of Thrones, Walking Dead, etc.?

They do take more risks and people behind the camera there have much more creative freedom. Then again it's basically renaissance for TV shows nowadays. Though something as shitty as The Walking Dead is certainly not part of it.
