I will probably get it at some point. I liked doom 3, it was very atmospheric. Not sure about pre-order thought, not sure about any new games until after Christmas now...
Hm, I AM interested in the new levels, but that's not enough to buy this at full price. I already got Doom and Doom 2 from id's own (ridiculously overpriced!) store, and I own Doom 3 and RoE. Liked them ok, but that's not enough to spend another 30 EUR on them.
Wow. People still make Doom 3 jokes? Is it 2004?

Anyways, they're not including the master levels or Final DOOM. So now I'm not sure. I enjoyed DOOM 3 and the extra missions sound neat enough. But without those two DOOMs the package feels incomplete.
This may sound very ignorant (well, it that question is cause by ignorance on my part), but what do you mean with "master levels"? I know what Final Doom is, but never heard anything about master levels.

They were a set of very tough levels released as an expansion pack. I believe the disc releases also included a huge amount of levels from the internet, but they're not included in modern releases like the Steam one.

There's nothing wrong with your question. Not everyone knows everything about Doom.

What Foxhack said, they were released by id so I consider them "official", you get them when you buy DOOM 2 on Steam.

Seems rather dumb to not include those if you ask me.

so, when is this thing actually gonna be released for PC? it was supposed to be 16th but wasn't...

Ubivis: no, germany is left out of the doom again! I can only buy a censored version of the original Doom 3 (without the expansion, which is not available at all). Lucky enough we have some nice people here always helping me by gifting the uncensored versions to me :)

SimonG: From what I heard, the BFG edition will be censored worldwide to accommodate the German market. http://www.schnittberichte.com/news.php?ID=4069 The news are a bit older, though.
What's being censored? O.o

That sucks really, and no I didn't pre-order because of steamworks, even though I enjoyed Doom 3.
Good news (for me at least) The Beth. Japan community rep has confirmed that Doom 3 BFG should release here on PC at 12.01 AM on the 18th (i.e., in a few hours). I'll expect a 5 hour delay due to Valve, just in case, but at least I'll be able to enjoy the 33% off discount without the need for gifting =)

Console version still don't release till November though. So this is one of those rare cases where we get the PC release first.

Not counting Doom 1, 2 and 3? :)

Nobody really knows. The original Doom games were removed from the BPjM blacklist some time ago, so their sale is now legal within Germany, and Doom 3 was issued an 18 certificate in uncensored form.

Resurrection of Evil, on the other hand, was blacklisted and still is to this day. BethSoft's PR team originally made it sound as if they had made such extensive enhancements to the game that it was treated as an entirely new title, but now it appears that certain enemy types have been changed to allow for certification, and that these changes will flow into the worldwide release.

Knowing the USK, I suspect that some of these changes involved making enemies in RoE less human-looking.

Doom 1 and 2 didn't get a local release as far as I know. Doom 3 didn't get a local console release either. Doom 3 did get a PC release, but at the ROW release date via Cyberfront.

You need to note, however, that the "mainstream" releasing of Western games in Japan is a relatively new occurrence. I.e., from around 2008-ish. It is since then that PC releases have been seeing these x month long delays -- even when console versions come out on the ROW international release date.

I can only name two definite cases where the PC version has come out first (when a console version was also planned at the same time). Those being this game (Doom 3 BFG) and Deus Ex Human Revolution.

Considering Square now embraces delaying releases of both console and PC versions even from the ROW international release date, seeing early PC releases from them isn't likely to ever happen again.

That basically means that Beth Japan are the only local publisher that now (sometimes) releases first on PC. Although they do tend to delay the release of Skyrim DLC, but that's probably because they need to wait for the Japanese language builds (and those don't appear to be created until after the standard EFIGS build).
I may be slow, but I just realised it is actually quite a good package. It contains:

Doom
Doom II
Doom III
Resurrection of evil
Lost Missions (new levels)

If you are on of the two people on the world without Doom, the deal is not bad.

It's a really good console deal but chances are any Steam user on PC has all those already except the new level pack.
