phxwitcher: I use it for the simple reason I found going to the vendors so often very tedious.

Is it cheating?

Of course it is. No, it doesn't alter gameplay, morph weapons into something they are not, improve your abilities or decrease those of the opponents you face, but yes, it still must be considered cheating, IMO.
If there was storage in the game then I'd agree.. but as there's no storage and it's entirely unreasonable not to have storage when there is encumberance.. then no, it's not cheating, it's fixing either an oversight or an equal cheat by the devs.

The gameplay is unreasonable without it.
For the love <deity>, people, you can't cheat in a bloody single player game.

You can if you have multiple personalities that compete with each other.
Modifying the established rules of a game in order to gain any advantage, no matter how small, is "Cheating".

It doesn't matter if you don't agree with the rules. The second you break them, you're cheating.

What surprises me is that people come on here looking for some kind of "rationalisation" that they're not cheating..

It's your game. If you want to cheat to make it easier, that's up to you.

I'm using the 0 weight mod on my 3rd play through, just to save me some hassle.
Yeah I use a zero weight mod. I hate having to inventory manage wherever I can avoid it. It's not fun, and last I checked, I play games to have *gasp* fun!

So I'm going to do what is most fun for the only person that matters in the equation: me.
I must admit it I use it, and do not feel guilty.

Regards MarkL
It's not even that necessary. I get by with only having 25-45 weight free out of 250. Silly people...
I use it, and I really don't care for someone else telling me how I SHOULD play, I bought the game, it's mine and I'll pop it in the microwave if I want to..You play it your way, and I'll play it mine. BTW, if you feel the need to brag about your hard-core gaming prowess about a single player game (With no witnesses 'cept for the flies and mice in your lonely apt) then I think it's about time you should try and shoot for a higher goal in life...It's only a video game!

I have nothing against the mod, but a storage thingy, like in TW1, would be nice.

re: Cheating
Your game, your rules. :D
IMHO, it doesn't matter unless other people are involved (i.e., multiplayer in other games, etc.).

As for 'realism', I think the first game did it better: limited number of weapons, and the only armour you can carry is the one you're wearing. :D
No. I don't use the zero weight mod. I can see why some might need it, but here are some guidelines I use for inventory management:

a) Price-to-weight ratio
- Yes there is the epic armor that sells for 60 orens but weighs 20 units. Then there is the lesser mutagen that sells for 9 orens each and weigh 0.1 units. I usually dump the former and keep the latter.

b) Herbs are weightless
- If you need those ingredients for your bomb and potions, use the herbs you pick, instead of hoarding monster parts which weigh 1 units each.

c) Do I need/keep that crafting component?
- Keep those labelled as quest item (I think those are weightless).
- Check with craftsman at the start of every act to see which components you need.
* Regular crafted items are available since Act 1.
* Weapons and armor differs between Acts. There are always diagrams that needs a component from a boss.
- Remember that there is a ready supply of common components (leather /oil /cloth /twine ) around the town/camp. So instead of carrying those all the time, just look around when you need them.
Lol im lazy and have poor household management + im a "collector", i like to keep everything i find lol. So i use the mod. Honestly i dunno how you can manage w/o mode...

Kleetus: You really need someone to explain something that basic to you?

CaptainKremin: OK, I'm looking at your avatar and nodding....

You need to narrow you perceptions of the word 'cheat'... cheat implies an unfair deception... however in this particular case where no provisions are made for storage, which in itself under your terms would be a cheat by the devs (really no hidden barrels anywhere... hidden places under a bush?) it merely removes an unfair and unreasonable restriction.

So changing the game, yes... cheating, no.
You change the rules of the game to your benefit. How is that not cheating? Of course it's a game without an opponent, so nobody is really harmed by it. You're only cheating yourself, just as when you're using a god mod, which I suppose you could also justify if you consider the game unreasonably hard.

I don't see it as cheating... merely removing a ridiculous restriction. Not so much the carry weight, but the lack of external storage. Everyone else in the game has drawers, cabinets, bags and chests... why not the player? I've seen some folks say it's "unrealistic" to use this mod and carry around enough crap to fill a 40 foot container, but seriously, is using it any more unrealistic than what you can carry without using it? Picture what your character would look like with all those crafting and alchemy ingredients hanging off him, and all the swords and armour you can find on a quest... Also, how is it even remotely realistic to not be able to use a stash somewhere, or to fashion one out of something?
I actually enjoy the need for thinking about what to pick up. It makes me memorize recipes and after a long time of being annoyed by that, I like it now.
However, weight limit of 300 wouldn't hurt either.

But I understand everyone who uses a zero-weight mod.

The huge trouble with it is learning the recipes with the bad GUI. You gonna waste so much time browsing over and over... if it was clean and simple, you'd get used to knowing what to pick up way faster.
I use Crafting Material mod (all weights 0.1) and some mod that let Geralt carry up to 500. That way I can vary the Prologue/Dungeon part and not always go for the Strong Back ability. Also, I really hate games that I have to leave loot around because there is no storage.

The Party Camp storage chest in DA:Origins is one of the best mods for that game and killed the need to buy a DLC only for a storage chest far away from the camp. (But the DLC is cool for other reasons).

I don't think TW2 can have a storage system just like the first game but there should be some storage chest or something.
