ovoon: Hardware wise, it's really cool. But ergonomically speaking? That controller looks awful.
Hard to say without holding it really. Looking over journalist impressions so far I haven't seen a lot of complaints on that front.
I've heard that it looks awkward, but actually holding the thing feels comfortable. People seem to really be digging it.
Sounds terrible, but I hope time and Nintendo prove me wrong. I miss them being my console of choice... Not since the days of the SNES have they been my primary console. (Not counting portables.)

Yea, but the design of the thing also looks incredibly stupid IMO. I don't have to hold it to figure that out.

That's from another forum so I don't know the actual path. Yes it's safe.

I don't like it. I don't want to hold a behemoth in my hand to play a game. Especially not for New Super Mario Bros.

I'm...wary. I remember seeing presentation videos showing the wii remote doing awesome things that never came about (and actually needed the wii motion plus to even attempt) and so I'm...wary.
Looks interesting. If I had a tv I'd considder it.

Kabuto: Nintendo's controllers get more ridiculous everytime. I can't stand it. Well at least we got good old pc. Great games and after all these years the keyboard and mouse combo still delivers the best play control.
I do salute them for doing something different. They at least went off the beaten path with stuff, tried new things, etc.
If the games for the Wii U make good use of the controller, this could be an incredible console. Sadly, I don't trust anyone but Nintendo to be able to make good use of it. That was part of the problem with the Wii, only Ninty was able to make good use of the controller scheme for a long time.

I don't own a Wii but every time I've been to a friends house and used the controller I couldn't get past how weird the button set up was, always felt like I'm fighting the controller rather then having fun playing the game.

Xbox or PS3 I never have this issue.
It looks interesting, but expensive, really expensive. From what little I've seen demonstrated the idea seems to be you only need one of them big controllers and other player will have Wiimotes? It would be good if not a game was ever made where you needed more than one of them big expensive looking lumps. At the most I would only want one of them and then get a classic controller or two to attach onto the wiimotes I own.

It look weird to hold but I don't think I've seen any complaints in that area from people who've tried it out, I wonder what it's like over long periods. I think I like it, it allows and adds to the motion gaming wackiness but at the same time it can work as a normal fully functional controller. Now I'll just have to wait and see how it gets implemented into games.

I think I'm actually pretty optimistic about the games it's going to get, it already has some third party support. No sign of first party games yet but then the console doesn't get released until sometime next year. It might have been a bit premature to announce anything for it yet considering they still have the 3DS and some of the newer Wii games to promote in the mean time.

I just need to know a few more things along with how much this things going to cost me, other than my soul I mean.

The cool thing is you can play this without the TV. If you don't connect one, the controller acts as the screen for the whole game.
Nintendo sure do like their gimmicks nowadays. I'm almost nervous to see how much it will cost with that silly controller that looks set to ramp up the cost (plus I'd hate to see the cost of a 2nd for multiplayer.) I got a Nintendo DS when it first came out, played a hell of a lot of games and never found the 2 screen setup particularly useful and this'll probably end up used mostly for inventory and maps too which does little more than shave a couple of seconds off of the game.

Nintendo needs to stop throwing in tat that pushes their pricing up and design another good core console with HD capability that's cheap to build & undercuts the current competitors instead of this rubbishy gimmick stuff they keep coming out with. Nintendo should just utilize the DS/3DS as an optional controller much like the GBA was in a couple of Gamecube games.

Why bother with a DS/3DS when Nintendo could just design an app for the Wii U for Apple and/or Android smartphones which allows you to use said smartphones as the controller?
That controller honestly looks like it'd make my hands and arms sore from use. There's always been a damned good reason controllers have been small.
