To gamer's yes, but to the industry they are the new replacement to handhelds, heck the new device for all of gaming they go as far as to the point of replacing Consoles and Desktops/Laptop. Soon we would play games like Arma 2 and Crysis 1 on the smartphones all because Infinity Blade showed that Big Budget Graphics can work on Phones.

Suits look at a piece of paper and thinking this is a great idea. How much people do you know have Infinity Blade? Then compare that to Gears of War. I'm not angry at you, just this obsession with smartphones is annoying.
They remade it already for Wii anyway didn't they? Bit too early for another remake IMO :P

That was pretty much just a port, the only thing remade was the control system. AFAIK, they basically just ported MP1 and 2 from the v1 and v2 engines to the v3 engine used by MP3.

It's rendered in an engine with maybe nicer lighting and particle effects, but I think all the models/textures stayed the same. Still great though... as much as I loved the GC versions, the controls in the Wii versions made the games that bit better.

I know it still looks nice but after playing Crysis 1 and saw Crysis 3 I never felt more immeresed in a game ever before and I thought," Man how awesome would Metroid Prime 1 would look like under this."

Better Graphics would make Metroid Prime 1 even more immersive than it already is, it would add to the game.

Yeah, Smartphones really killed the 3DS (sarcasm). I still don't get it, smartphones and dedicated portable gaming devices are not the same thing, they are NOT competitors. I agree that smartphone games might appeal more to the casual crowd than a handheld, but they are NOT direct competitors. You can't even fucking compare the level of quality of smartphone games to proper portable games. That's nonsense.

What's up with your obssession about graphics? I couldn't care less about a remake in Cryengine 3. I think Metroid Prime is still gorgeous even today as it is, and i prefer the GC version over any remake out there. I just don't care that much about graphics.

Oh yeah? So why are they still developing tons of games for the 3DS? Heck, even the PSP still has a few games coming in the next months. That's BS, they're targeted at different markets: smartphone games have a more casual audience, handhelds have a hardcore audience. Smartphones aren't dedicated gaming machines, playing games is just another function for a smartphone.

It would be like saying that social facebook games will kill console and PC games. It just doesn't make any sense.

By the way piracy rates are so high in both iOS and Android that developers are focusing on F2P BS. So no, it won't happen. Even the best games on iOS are going F2P now, like Real Racing 3. I don't think the traditional model has worked that well on mobiles.
It was not really a "remake". They just rereleased it on the Wii as part of the Metroid Prime Collection, which is a collector's item now (it was a limited edition).
