While I'll likely get a Wii U, I have a feeling this is Nintendo's last shot at impressing gamers. They are becoming predictable, and I feel like gamers are losing interest. Look at Microsoft and Sony, who rely on 3rd parties for their killer apps. We've gotten new IP's over the years like Uncharted, Gears of War, etc that have kept interest in both systems and games. Nintendo doesn't want a killer app from a 3rd party. They keep relying on Zelda, Metroid, and Mario to sell their consoles, and given the lack of enthusiasm the Wii U seems to be getting compared to the previous systems, I think even Nintendo diehards are starting to lose faith.
3rd party content will make or break the Wii U. They need to grab people from the Sony and MS camp by telling them that they can do everything just as good if not better. Hell, I'm likely going to buy one just for Colonial Marines so I can use the controller as a motion tracker, but they need to actually keep the support rather than dropping it once people have bought the console.
