Why isn´t there any gamecard yet? Earlier on new releases almost always got their gamecard online WEEKS or even MONTHS before they were released!
Could one of the blue ones do a post concerning this topic?

Niggles: look through past threads.if ppl didn't want it, we wouldn't be getting it

Pheace: Exactly. People clearly want auto-patching.
I must be too old , i prefer manual patching :p
I'll take manual patching over auto patching any day and I hope it will be an option for this game too.

Perhaps, but I'm well on my way to 40 and certainly prefer auto patching :)

But that's irrelevant. As Niggles said, if people didn't want it, we wouldn't be getting it, and we're getting it.

auroraparadox: I figured that would be the answer. Thanks for confirming skeletonbow. Hopefully GOG Galaxy will make playing against/with Steam players possible.

skeletonbow: I've read in a few places now that Larian is looking into the possibility of GOG Galaxy support so if they do, then crossplay might be likely. Direct IP support is pretty nice though too.

skeletonbow: Larian has created their own custom updater for Dragon Commander on GOG, and also is using it for Original Sin from what they have said on their own forums. They are investigating Galaxy also now from what I hear.

Presumably once Galaxy is available, games will start moving to it for these sort of things, and the Galaxy back end will spit out more sensible update deltas for people not using the client for straight web downloads etc. also.
Glad to hear Larian is looking into using GOG Galaxy with their games. Is this custom updater available to the general public or is it only for internal use by Larian?

Since it was already in use for Dragon Commander it's not internal :)
This game is 20% off till tomorrow on steam, I want to buy the GoG version but if it's not available tomorrow morning by 10am EST I am getting it on steam.
Why a Monday-release anyway? What is good about Monday? Why not a Friday release so we can play all weekend after the game comes out? *grumble*

Yeah, that is a bit more troubling. I haven't wanted to start on a game this weekend cause I've been keeping the decks clear for Divinity tomorrow.

Their original (only once delayed!) release date was the 20th which was a Friday. I can only guess that they're working right through the weekend for tomorrow's launch?

Make sure it's really the release version there on Steam before you commit! I'd be surprised if they didn't release the final game everywhere simultaneously.

Age of Wonders III was also released on a Monday. I really wonder if there is a reason behind choosing Monday. I cannot see a good thing about it but maybe there IS a strategy.

Perhaps there is a holiday somewhere in the world during next week?

Well, this Friday is July 4th which celebrated in the US, so maybe they wanted to avoid the Friday because of that...

My casual understanding is that the updater is built directly into the game itself to get the updates directly.

I agree that a Monday release is weird, but you have to think it kind of makes sense. If they have issues with the distributor like GoG or Steam, it's easier to deal with it during the regular work day rather than on a weekend.
Well, we're ready with both our copies over here. Looking forward to finally playing the full "release' version, though I'm a bit disappointed there's still only 2 companions in the game, but perhaps the henchmen can fill the void. But there's no holding back the person I'm playing with anymore for a patch who knows when, so we're going for it :)
