The reason I joined GOG was the giant D&D bundle with all the baldurs gate style games. Crazy value on timeless games I can replay again and again. I just couldn't resist that low price for all those amazing games.
I've gone on to purchase a bunch of classics that I haven't seen in over a decade; including Deus Ex, Thief, and System Shock2.

Thanks GOG!
What game was your first reason for joining GOG?
Duke Nukem 3D!

After playing through Duke Nukem Forever twice, I need more Duke so I came here and bought some more!
The alone in the dark 1,2,3 set. That was reason enough for me
I've actually posted this once or twice:

The Banner Saga!

I had been aware of GoG for ages but never joined / purchased. But DRM free Banner Saga was too much to resist. My only regret was not joining sooner.

Good call, funnily enough that was my second purchase.
Fallout
Gothic 1. Period. I played Gothic 2 and it became my all time favorite game ever, but I couldn't find 1 anywhere here (USA).

Found it at this relative new website called good old games, and discovered all of the all time greats here made to work on current systems and joining was not a choice, it was a necessity. That was 2008 and over 500 games on my shelves ago...

Oh, and BTW, Gothic 1 did NOT disappoint (whereas Gothic 3.... ugh). I absolutely loved 1, probably liked 2 a little better just because of the overall size and the add-on, but both were awesome, awesome games.

I stumbled upon my old Gothic 2 cds and was in the mood to play it again, especially because "weee, it'll finally run on max settings on the new pc!" Well, nope, critical error on startup. Turned out GOG had G2 on sale that very day, so I joined.

Of course the GOG version didn't want to play either. :'D
TeenAgent :)
Then Simon The Sorcerer, for the first game I paid for.
I was told there would be punch and pie.
I had heard of GOG before but never made an account until they did the Fallout giveaway. A few months later I realized that I could get Witcher for free because I owned the Retail release. At that point, I bought Witcher 2 on sale for $4. And now I have 120+ games.

GOG got me because of 2 reasons:

1. Being such a confident company that they gave me the digital release of Witcher for owning the Retail.

2. Having great prices and policies on products that I'm interested in.

There is seriously no other company that meets the standards of GOG, they continue to amaze me on a daily basis, and that sad thing is, it's usually these types of companies that go out of business, I just hope that GOG breaks that cycle.

I was quite close to buying the Gothic bundle during the summer sale. But it didn't include Gothic 1 and I read that 3 was garbage.
I have never played them and am a big fan of old school rpgs. Next time I'll have to buy 1&2 without question :)
I like your style, un2114! :-) It is nice to be sentimental, because, essentially gog is there because of it.

Baldur's Gate.

My older iMac could handle XP, but when I upgraded (with implied Win7), I got my first blue-screen ever, or thence, when trying to just bootcamp casually.

Gog allowed me to just play it, when otherwsie it was impossible.
Never heard of it till this past insomnia sale. Joined to get Torchlight and Bard's Tale, but first purchase wound up being Hammerwatch.
Psychonauts, Prince of Persia: Sands of Time and Planescape: Torment. I signed up on this site during the 2011 Christmas Sale just to get those three games and I never looked back. Too bad I didn't like PoP, but the other two were as great as I thought they would be!
