SentinelWolf: Free copy of Fallout 1. You can never have too many of those.
Stayed for the DRM free stance, and because games were cheaper, since 1$ ≠ 1€.
Even if a game isn't cheaper here (happens with steam sales), i still get it here.

Edit: First purchase was Hotline Miami. I could not remember and had to go and check. xD

neverwinter nights , although it wasn't out yet when i joined i knew it would come soon . We all were shell shocked when gog managed to release the neverwinter nights 2 complete edition over steam's platinum edition which lacked a few content and got removed from steam as well. Glorious old days

first purchase was port royale 1

Freespace, bought on Dec 23, 09, was my first game. It's a game very similar to Tie Fighter, and I wanted to make sure I could play the game as pc specs changed. I was impressed with Gog the first time I found it.
I came here to further support CD Projekt for their phenomenal job on TW1 and TW2. Besides that, I felt Steam was becoming something that I was questioning whether to support or not.

dew neh new new, dew neh new new (sorry that was my best attempt at a phonetic representation of the Twilight Zone music ;)
First purchase: Original war. I'd point you to it, but it's no longer on sale. :(

Reason for joining: Friend pointed me to GOG, seemed like a nice alternative to Steam, cheap prices, games are yours forever with no DRM.
My first actual purchase was during the Project Eternity kickstarter in October 2012. It was also when I first visited GOG all together. I was so happy to see my youth sitting here, that being every single infinity engine game that I fell in love with. I bought Icewind Dale with the desire to purchase each one separately, one at a time, even not part of a sale if I had to. I decided to finish one and then move on to the others.

At this time I didn't really understand the whole DRM thing. All I knew is that it was there and it was annoying, and it was one big reason I strayed from PC gaming since the early 2000's; I wanted to own what I bought.

Then I started visiting in early 2013 during the Torment: ToN kickstarter and really began to take notice of why GOG was so significant. I began buying games in droves, mostly in sales because there were just so many I hadn't even heard of, and also many games I've been aware of for many many years but which I never had the liberty to play. Investing in a few good sales really helped grow my collection and hack away at the decent sized catalog GOG has.

Thanks to the GOG community and the many forum threads and helpful members, as well as learning about sites like Moby games which I had never visited previously, as well as learning a lot more about indie games, classic games, the current computer gaming scene, and many small-time developers previously unknown to me, I feel as if GOG is truly a part of my life. I visit it every day if even for just a moment. And while I know I will never be as helpful or knowledgable as some of the classic or indie game guru's on this site, I do my best to contribute and I've even spread the name of GOG by word of mouth offline as well, which has brought a few people to purchase some games on here that they remember from their past.

I plan to stick with GOG as long as they adhere to their DRM-free philosophy, and I wholeheartedly support the Galaxy client. I only wish for GOG to grow and with continued growth and support, they probably will surprise us with many games and features in the years to come. I can't wait for the GOG catalog to be in the thousands :)

My first purchase was TOCA Race Driver 3 (not here anymore) and Sacred Gold on December 25th 2008.

I was a member of GoG.com earlier though.
I followed this site from its birth and I joined about 2 months later on October 2008.
GoG.com isn't just an e-shop, the community here is great too.

I was lucky enough for someone to have gifted me Original War the day before it was removed from the catalogue just totally out of the blue. It's a pretty cool game and hopefully it will return tot he GOG catalogue in the future and be updated with GOG Galaxy support.
I joined around the period Fallout 1 was given for free for the first time, but my first purchase was XIII I think. Really nice game. Interesting take on the agent/spy/underworld theme.
Was looking for a tactical RPG, heard of Jagged Alliance, and traced it to GOG. Bought it back in 2009, ended up being rather disappointed with it, but never left.
My first purchase was Master of Orion 1+2, however these were not the reason I joined. I was actually really impatient with the steam summer sale starting, and GOG had already been having one, so I decided to spend some money here.

I ended up liking it so much that I stayed permanently.
This tweet right here!

OK I admit, I had literally no idea what Ultima was way back then, and I was actually really turned off by the game and the site when I downloaded it (ended up abandoning the site for a year-ish I think) until the Divinity PWYW.
Fallout, Shadow Warrior, Ishar, The Witcher were my first games on GoG. That and DRM free games made me join.
