I joined GOG because I had the music for the starting area in Beneath a steel sky in my head and it made me get nostalgic and want to play it, so I googled for a copy and saw it was free on here! :D
My first purchase, according to my account, was Shogo: Mobile Armor Division, though I can't for the life of me recall why, beyond mere curiosity - what with it being an FPS where you get to control a mecha (before Titanfall made it cool) - and the opportunity to play a game that I had originally missed out on.

That in turn basically extends into my reasons for signing up for GOG.com altogether: I missed out on a lot of games when I was a kid, for various reasons that included lack of money, lack of availability, and lack of a suitable system (I still had an Amiga 500+ instead of a PC, right up until the launch of Windows 98), and GOG.com gave me an opportunity to play those games that had passed me by, as well as some of the classics I did get to play.
First purchases were Rollercoaster Tycoon, Sim City 2000 and Theme Hospital. The site was recommended to me by a friend and originally could only find those games here, however Steam really started to irritate me for many reasons and so I came here.
I had known about GOG for years, mostly because of the fact that they were one of the few places where you could get the Another World: 15th Anniversary Edition. However, it wasn't until I saw an article on GameSpot this past May talking about the Spring Insomnia Sale that I finally made a move. One of the games the article mentioned was Shadowrun Returns. As a fan of the franchise, I couldn't pass up getting the game for a great price, so I joined immediately.

However, by the time I joined, the Shadowrun Returns sale was long gone. Thanks to IAmSinistar's tracking thread, I learned that it would be coming around again, so I made myself comfortable and waited. While I did so, I was amazed at how insane some of the discounts were. When The Bard's Tale came up, I had to jump on it. Thus, it became my first purchase.

I did, eventually, get Shadowrun Returns and Another World, but my shelf was noticeably full by the time I snagged them both. I've been here just about every day since and I love it. ^_^

Oh crap, why DID I join GoG all those years ago.

I joined... I think... I don't know. I created an account just because; I think just out of curiosity. The oldest games on my GoG shelf are Dragonsphere and Tyrian 2000. Oh wait, that's right: Alpha Centauri.

I had gifted the game to a friend (a physical copy) and wanted to try it out for myself. Looking at the prices on Amazon ($30), eBay became a better option. Of course eBay fluctuated heavily so I set upon this new site, GoodOldGames.com which had it available for download... that I didn't quite see as being totally legit.

Up until it began having huge sales, then a shut-down scare, which finally pushed me to get the game. And I just started posting to this forum a few weeks ago.

I get around to things eventually!
I can't even remember how I initially found the site (this was back when GOG still stood for 'good old games') but I know I kept on returning to look at the Creatures games, having missed them the first go-around but not quite wanting to sign up for a new site just for a couple of games.

My husband got emails or checked GOG for ages but never bought anything; I myself finally signed up on the 15th April 2013, but didn't buy my first games until the longest day of summer sale in June. Despite yearning after Creatures for ages, my first games were Dungeon Keeper 1, Dungeon Keeper 2, Theme Hospital, RollerCoaster Tycoon 1, and FTL: Faster Than Light.

My game choices were due to three reasons: nostalgia (for DK1 which was one of the first video games I ever owned; I skimmed the files onto a pen drive when the CD stopped working and was really disappointed when the pen drive stopped seeing the files), historical misses (an old friend recommended theme hospital way back but I never got around to buying a physical copy; rollercoaster tycoon I'd heard good things of), and having heard good things about FTL. The rest of my games bought have followed similiar philosophies, and I have way too many games in my backlog now.
I'll just leave this here:

Leisure Suit Larry Reloaded.. I am forever an Al Lowe fan. (even though reloaded was so so.)
I got pointed toward GOG by Curse and the Dungeon Keeper giveaway. Joined up, looked around, found the Gabriel Knight and Quest for Glory games, which I'd been trying to find again for years, and the rest is history.
It was a cloudy sad day. Also The Withe Stripes was no more (yeah, nothing happened that day to remember, wiki helped).
I registered on GoG on Feb. 2, 2011 and almost forgot about it, with occasional visits from time to time.
That was until this year, when I saw I could get an extra discount on The Witcher 3 if I register here the first 2 (I have them on Steam). Summer sale was already begun and I simple lost my mind.

My very first game bought on gog.com: The Witcher 3, followed by an orgy of sales.
My first buy was Arcanum: Of Steam and Magic Obscura, only really Steampunk RPG out there.
I found GOG cause of the Fallout Giveaway April 2012... 06 Jul 2012 gog released DRM Free Riddick which game i could never played before (since of the crappy DRM-Protection), since then is gog my favorite Gaming Site ;)

BenZ2k3: since then is gog my favorite Gaming Site ;)
Lately when i was talking with my friends of games i bought (it was during summer sale) They asked me if i was paid by GoG because i am talking about them over and over again :) Seems it is my fav gaming site too. One of very few things i love in my homeland (CDP as whole). Another is beer :)
I always heard about Planescape Torment being an awesome game, but never had the opportubity to play it. Until I found an online store that sold it. It was my first purchase.

"Ooooooh, they have Master of Magic too? And MAX? Baldur's gate?
MASTER OF ORION 2!!!????

OK, I died and I'm in heaven!"
My first purchase is HOMM IV. It would have been HOMM III, but I have played that game over and over, so I went for something new
