skimmie: Another brilliant movie that I watched years ago but forgot about. Onto the watchlist it goes!

Check your stocking.
This cult movie is often forgotten on Christmas simply because nowadays we all associate (including TV channels) too often Christmas with Santa Claus rather than the Nativity. I think you can currently watch it on Netflix.

Thank you for my full stocking. Happy holidays to you, PaterAlf and to all of you around :)
My favorite Christmas movies are:

- Gremlins (1984)
- Die Hard (1988)
- Home Alone (1990)
- Mrs. Doubtfire (1993)
- The Santa Clause (1994)
- Jingle All the Way (1996)
- Elf (2003)
- A Dennis the Menace Christmas (2007)

And I think for over a decade Titanic is always on TV as one of the Christmas special movies.

This still gives me goosebumps.

I'm in for the GA and I'm not a participant in the Secret Santa event, nor Doc0075's fight club.

Santa likes a good song. He left a gift in your stocking.

MaxFulvus: What about Monty Python's Life of Brian ?
It's such an underrated (aka "niche") movie in general and Chritmas movie in particular.
But the movie is about a very naughty boy! My favorite part is the alien abduction. However, the Holy Grail film of theirs is my absolute fav.

Whatever happened to Bigus D***us?

thank you very much :D

merry christmas everyone! :D
Recommendation for the newest movie:

- Happiest Season (2020)

Pretty enjoyable movie about family and Christmas. I'm sure you will like it :)
Did nobody mention Love Actually yet? It's my favourite romantic comedy and a great movie to watch during the Christmas season.

Think I'm going to watch it again tomorrow.

Never seen it, but I have seen this one:

Did you ever notice that Iron Man 3 is set during Christmas time? I've just re-watched it and even if it's not a classic, and to me it's not either the best of the Iron movies, it could simply be a Christmas movie.

My least favorite Iron Man movie but it does have a great Christmas vibe. Now I have the urge to watch all 3 movies. lol
I watched some Christmas stuff on Netflix:

Angela's Christmas Wish
It's a sequel to last year's animation movie Angela's Christmas. This time Angela and her brother try to get her dad home for Christmas. Which is a little bit problematic because it's 1915 and Angela's family lives in Ireland while her dad works in Australia. But sometimes wishes become true.

Like the sequel the movie is very cute and heartwarming and has a wonderful Christmas message. I like it a lot and hope there will be another Angela movie next year.

Let it Snow
It's not bad and it has some pretty good young actors in it (Liv Hewson, Kiernan Shipka) and also Joan Cusack, but it tries to be a teenage "Love Actually" a little too hard. So I would say there are many better Christmas movies, but it's still ok, if you want to get into the Christmas mood and already watched all the classics.

Trailer

Hjem til Jul (Home for Christmas)
A norwegian series about a 30-year-old nurse who lied to her family about having a boyfriend (because she was fed up by the constant comments about her being single). Now she only has 24 days to find the man of her dreams, because her family expects her to bring him home for the great Christmas dinner.

I have only watched the first two episodes by now, but so far it's very funny (especially the hilarious first dates with some men she found with the help of an internet dating agency) and I will definitely watch the rest as well.

My favorite Christmas radio shows include these two: https://archive.org/details/PublicDomainChristmasonOldTimeRadio/
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WrIKfItEYaM
The Jack Benny Shopping trips with Mel Blanc
Fibber McGee & Molly Christmas episodes

Modern radio: the now deceased Stuart McLean's "Dave & Morley" Christmas shows especially "Dave Cooks the Turkey": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yOmdJKn29ws

Movies: Meet John Doe (sooooooo goood!!!! the story of the baseball player who does anything to live in the days before Tommy John surgery is one of the best and most heart-warming movies I know of.)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Cheaters_(1945_film) This one tugs on the heart-strings and reminds me of how much we actually have that we aren't grateful for.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lady_on_a_Train (I adore Deanna Durbin's voice) Song. My favorite female singer in the movies is in a detective film-noir type movie.
Christmas in Connecticut 1945. Barbara Stanwyck and Dennis Morgan star in this movie of a Big City author who has lied about her life on her farm, and painted such a fascinating picture that her boss (who hates all liars) invited himself to her non-existent "house" in the country.

zlaywal: I'd recommend Tokyo Godfathers, an anime from one the genre's great, the late Satoshi Kon. It's about 3 homeless people that found a baby on Christmas Eve. AS with Kon's more celebrated works like Millennium Actress and Paprika, the movies contain roller-coaster of emotion with critique of Japanese society.

LynXsh: this. period.
this movie has the concentrated Christmas spirit with all the wonders and people being nice... alongside with dirty backstreets (not only geographically speaking here) and an ugly face of the contemporary society.

well... why not to be in?
Santa thinks that sounds like a wonderful movie. He put it on the watchlist and left a gift in your stocking.
